The Main Auditorium (Screen 1) at Greenbelt Cinema is the venue’s primary theater space, seating about 368 and serving as the main location for most screenings and events. Originally built between 1937 and 1938 as part of the original structure of the Cinema, it features the New Deal–era development of Greenbelt. The auditorium reflects an Art Deco/Streamline Moderne design and blends its preserved architectural character with modern upgrades, including digital projection, a 35mm film capability for archival showings, renovated seating, and improved climate control and amenities. The Main Auditorium typically hosts first-run independent films, classic screenings, and special events like Q&As and community programs, making it the central hub of the theater’s programming.

Can I rent The Main Auditorium?

Yes! It has previously been used for local film premieres, community screenings, weddings, birthday parties, intimate gatherings, photoshoots, corporate trainings, and a recreational space for social clubs and events.
