What is The Green Room? The Green Room is the multipurpose space adjacent to the main lobby and outside of Screen Two where Greenbelt Cinema guests can enjoy a conversation before and after films, occasional happy hours, and special film club meetings. It includes our timeline wall exhibiting our history as a movie theater, and is also where some of our Media Lab activities like one-day and summer workshops take place. Why is it called The Green Room? This name was chosen intentionally because of its widely understood connection to a behind-the-scenes gathering space in film, theater, and live performance. Its name embodies the welcoming, social, and flexible environment open to people, conversation, and connection, naturally fitting Greenbelt Cinema’s identity. Also, it’s green! What happens in The Green Room? By day, we are open for school field trips, classes, and workshops. We can also give opportunity and space for various educational and community programs by request. By night and weekends, The Green Room is a pre- and post-screening gathering space meant for meeting with companions, and conversing about your latest film watch! It can also be a space where non-screen movie-centric events happen throughout the week. If you have any film-related events for The Green Room, lets us know by writing to hello@greenbeltcinema.org Can I rent The Green Room? Yes! The Green Room is able to be rented as a joint-rental with the screening room (not available as an independent space). Because Screen 2 is an active cinema and we want all Greenbelt patrons to have a great experience when they come to see a film, not risk being disturbed by an event in The Green Room.
